Cool Tattoo Designs: Skin Deep
Aesthetics
Many people have, as a part of their personality and preferences, a deep attraction to and passion for art.
Almost everyone can be considered to hold their own personal opinions toward various styles and forms of art as
part of their inborn nature. Throughout history, peoples’ interest in art has appeared throughout cultures and
society’s as artists have expressed themselves through architecture, artwork and design.
Of course, people's interest in art has lead to different fields and forms of art being established. In a
society’s culture there are many fields of art to be pursued, enjoyed and studied. Some types of art are
categorized as sculpture, photography, modeling with clay, oil painting, collage and many others. There is also
another type of art that is very significant in the popular culture and that also has ancient traditions. This art
is tattoo.
Designing artwork on skin permanently is what tattoo does. This artwork is permanently embedded on the skin of a
person that is interested in body art. Throughout history, tattoo as an art form has been relevance for political
and social reasons. Many cultures have used tattoos to express social status.
Tattoos can also denote accomplishments, identities, personal preferences, and in some cultures they can denote
tribal affiliation. Many tribal societies use tattoos to demarcate the leaders of the tribe. In religious societies
tattoos can also be used to denote the leader of the religion or as a person that practices certain rituals, or
penitence, or as a blessing, purification, and sometimes as a curse.
In agriculture, tattoos have been used on animals (it is called branding) that mark animals and signify which
farm they belong to. In modern times, tattoos have been used by people who enjoy body art. These people use them to
mark themselves in ways that they believe to be aesthetically pleasing.
There are many creative designs that can be used for tattoos. Tattoos in modern times are used by people to
express their interests and personalities and activities. Some people even use tattoos to declare their love for
another person. Others simply use it as a form of art and creative expression.
Some segments of society use tattoos for bragging rights. Presently tattoos are quite socially acceptable in
most social circles. They are popular for many age groups.
However, since tattoos are permanent some people (especially minors) should carefully consider what type of
tattoo they want. For example, a tattoo that a person likes at the age of seventeen they may not want to have at
the age of twenty-seven or the age of thirty-seven.
